Ms Blackburn has a good idea here. She's responding to the incident where the TSA clerk used his uniform and badge to intimidate his rape victim. I suspect Ms Blackburn is also recognizing that the police costumes TSA clerks wear are intimidating travelers and emboldening TSA clerks to bully citizens.

    STRIP Act-- Excellent.
Take off those fake uniforms, now!

Great find! This is an excellent proposal and may have some chance of getting through since it is crafted as being supportive of law enforcement. So the MoCs have to choose between being pro-police or pro-TSA. I need to post this one around a few of the LE sites I'm registered at.

One more nail in the TSA coffin. It's time to dig the hole and bury this mistake once and for all.

    She has some support:

House Republicans look to 'strip' TSA screeners of their 'officer' title

Wish I was in Blackburn's district. May send a message using a fake address just so I can say I support this move. If any of the others supporters are your legislators I don't think a message of encouragement would be out of line.

Wow. And what a nice slap in the face to the TSA 'officers'.

She says it's the 'least we can do'. I wonder if this is a start to 'more we can do'.

    Baby steps.

If you're from the DFW area, Kenny Marchant, a Republican, is your Rep. Since this is a GOP sponsored bill (HR 3608) he might well agree to sign on as a co-sponsor and support it. Can't hurt.

My rep is Hensarling. Haven't found the list of co-sponsors of the bill but know it's out there.

    edit to add:

    My email to Jeb:

    Dear Representative Hensarling,

    I ask that you support H.R. 3608, “Stop TSA’s Reach-In Policy” — or STRIP — Act.
I believe that TSA is out of control and that the Congress has failed in its responsibility to control the TSA. I am more afraid of my encounters with TSA than I am of an unlikely terrorist attack.

While this bill falls far short of taking control of the TSA it is at least a first small step.

I again ask you sir to give your full support to this bill.

    Respectfully,

    name redacted
