A Transportation Safety Administration employee was taken into custody Tuesday after he unlawfully tried to bring a handgun into the secured area of Miami International Airport, police said.

Another fine upstanding TSA employee. Not only was he taking a firearm into the secure area but also no concealed carry permit.

I'm sure a little retraining will take care of this little problem.:td:

Lol. Couldn't happen to a more deserving individual. The orange jumpsuit on him is so becoming. Wonder if the gun was for some side 'financial enhancement' after work?

If the guy had a CCW, I'd have some sympathy. IMO, anyone licensed to carry, including LEO, should get a Mulligan at the airport. Carrying illegally, see what cartel he moonlights for, then if clean there, fire his tookus, fine him, and 90 days in the slammer....

Making license plates help to improve one's manual dexterity and to focus the mind.

    Ahh, my home airport. :)

Here in FL, if you have a CCW, the penalty would likely be loss of license rather than jail time. If you don't have a license, the fact that you brought it to the airport doesn't really matter -- the fact that you had it anywhere in public is a felony.

I'm sure when he gets out, the TSA will give him some serious re-training.

Awesome! The news article referred to him as a "screener" and "employee", not "officer". ^

For the once-a-year flier who is an LEO or has a CCW, perhaps. But any airport employee should have enough sense not bring a firearm to work, especially if they work for an agency that is supposed to keep them out of the sterile area in the first place.

Actually, I prefer the mugshots when they are still wearing their policeman's costume. :p

I've noticed an increase in referring to TSA thuglets as screener in a lot of articles lately. I know many commenters here and the other place have refused to use officer for the past year so mnaybe it is finally catching on. The local radio and TV carried the story of the perv nabbed for child porn yesterday and said screener.

Alternatively, maybe the media has grown sick of them too and refuses to grant them any respect.

I'm good with it either way.

I'm with you. We won't know for sure that we've won until they use the word jackass.

Nobody willing to put on the TSA uniform deserves respect.

The requirement for a background check might have been why he had no CCW. Outstanding, TSA.
