There is hope, but can we roll back the worst of it (DHS & their minions in CBP & TSA) before it's too late?

    Poll results:
    • the federal government today wields too much power: 54%
    • the government has about the right amount of power: 36%
    • the federal government has "too little" power: 8%
... which leaves 2% unaccounted for, probably too stoned to care in WA or CO.

Powerful or not, its what is done with that power that's the issue for me.

Public Administration, as a profession, concerns itself with responsibility to the public, given the power of government.
Sort of like privatization, it may help, but I'm not sold on the idea that the sorts of abuses we are seeing are corrected by simply shifting power away from the Feds. Too many thugs at every level.

Agree, perfection will never be found, and the desire to dominate is inherent in government power at any level. Yet it is indisputable that the more local power is, the more responsive it is.

The government power that offends me most is on the federal level, with unaccountable police following as a close second.

More responsive to local cronies too. Run afoul of that and now the PD can feed adverse info right into Federal background, totally without unaccountability, or citizen's ability to request disclosure let alone correction.
