Probably me but I have had issues loading TUG but not other pages. I was using IE. Tried Firefox and had no problem with loading TUG.

I use Safari and have no problem. Only when the server's very busy.

I was thinking it was probably something on my end. I just don't understand why one browser will work and another will not. Electrons, humph.

Something really weird started happening to me beginning last night.

I can't log into TUG from Safari or from Firefox if I bring up a new browser window. All I got was a white screen - I couldn't see the site at all. I have a page up with three tabs - a tab for TUG, and one for a couple of other places where I frequently go. I couldn't log in from the saved tab last night.

This morning (just now) I could log in to the tabbed window, but I couldn't bring TUG up in Safari or Firefox using a new browser window. I still get the blank white page.

I'm kind of afraid to log out now....

I had lots of issues late last night, with several sites on the same ISP, not just TUG, and not just discussion forums & other applications that rely on the MYSQL database server.

It cleared up as I was starting write a bitchy note in the ISP's support system. :D

When something happens on one browser & not another, try clearing cash, cookies, persistent storage, etc. on the browser with a problem. On some browsers you can also configure it to check for updates on images, scripts, etc., on ever access rather than occasionally or almost never.

I got home around 9pm and logged in maybe an hour later? I don't know if that qualifies as 'late'. :) I'll try clearing both Safari and Firefox - but it happened on both of them. As of this morning I couldn't get in on either browser except for my saved tab in Firefox.

    So weird.

Yay! I'm in Safari! Cleared the cache - worked like a charm.

New thread coming up soon. :)

    Thanks, Mike.

But see your PM (convo reply). Much of the issues around that time weren't happening at your end.

The underlying platform (XenForo) is very much state-of-the-art with heavy reliance on JavaScript. For example, most editing & posting is accomplish via local scripts that use JQuery to push the data back to the servers & then rewrite the current page in place. It's slick when it works, but when it fails due to back comm or garbaged cache ....

I have javascript turned off by default, but I have it on for TUG. And my safari browser isn't as locked down as my default browser, firefox.

    So, I got nothin'. ;)

I keep getting knocked off as well. It may be due to a recent Firefox upgrade. I get redirected to a Yahoo search engine and have to exit Firefox completely to get back in.

Sounds like a hiccup in your ISP's name server.

The first resort, as always, should be to clear your browser cache, especially important after an upgrade like the one Saturday night that would have rendered any cached TUG pages or javascript files obsolete.

Not really a problem, just an annoyance ---- the ads that pop up before I can log in have lately always included an ad for a training program to qualify me for TSA employment.

(I hate to think what depravities one must perform to get an "A" in that class)

You must be a really sad, sorry sack if you have to be trained to qualify for TSA employment. I though they were already at the bottom of the barrel.
