Reply to Southwest

    Just got emails from Southwest that my Companion Pass and A-List privileges have expired. This is my reply:

    No kidding!!!​

    Since my wife was badly groped by TSA on 1 Nov. 2010 we have driven from Minneapolis to St. Louis and back 19 as not to be further abused by TSA's perverts and thugs. We also drove to Denver for our vacation this last summer, the first time we've driven on a vacation since 2003. Between the two of us, that represents 40 round-trip tickets not purchased on Southwest Airlines.​

    In addition, we've eliminated a lot of other discretionary airline travel, e.g. 4-7 international trips annually and several domestic trips. Collectively, this represents another 20+ round-trip tickets not purchased on Southwest, Continental and United airlines.​

    We'd love to be traveling by air again but will not do so until TSA is reformed or scrapped:​
    • No more gropes -- keep their dirty blue-gloved hands out our boobs and crotches
    • No more electronic strip searches by unlicensed & otherwise unemployable staff with zero radiological training
    • Get rid of the low-lifes that just stand around and yell at us
    • Quit stealing and confiscating our stuff
    All indications are that airline traffic is DOWN, train traffic is UP, and automobile traffic is UP. This trend will continue until TSA stops abusing your customers.​

    I've sent similar emails to all of the travel related memberships I am a member of, including Southwest, a few times at least.

    This is an excellent point to make, especially to WN. Their internal marketing mantra is that they compete with trains and cars, not other airlines.

    Bravo, Mike. I just told a similar story to British Airways when they called me the other day.

    But with the TSA infesting trains now, too, and every other form of transportation, I'm afraid we're going to start running out of arguments. And options.

    Delta called me a few months back and asked me to do a 'quick phone survey' and when I cited points similar to your letter, all I got was "We're sorry you feel that way, we hope you'll fly with us on your next and future travels."

    Of course, but when people cannot travel at all, the economy will be even deeper in poop! (If that is possible?)

    Then they borrow more from China/India/etc and tax the living heck out of us.
