Best comment so far (if you can wade through all the predictable, asinine "kill all the Muslims" comments:

I couldn't get past the comment about "sand lice".

Sorry, not my type of reading material.

I'm sure there's something to this. Wasn't a Russian airliner brought down a few years ago w/ a bra bomb? A boobie bomb is not all that far fetched.

Didn't doctors pretty much always know how to implant bombs into people's bodies?

Seriously, if they can implant a pacemaker, a kidney or an artificial hip, why not a bomb?

The only thing preventing this crime is common decency. That's what prevents most crimes.

I know it's been done, but not all that often. Body bombs have got to be challenging, because the body of the person with the bomb sewn into it is going to absorb a lot of the explosion.

It can happen, but aren't there better ways to prevent body bombs than sexually molesting children, irradiating citizens and rooting around in our grandparents' adult diapers?

  6. Is it me, or didn't we hear this same story sometime last year? Why is it news again?

It couldn't be because the body scanners don't work, Geraldo is on FoxNews talking about being manually raped by a pervy screener, and public opinion is building toward a tipping point, could it? No, that couldn't be it.

I'm not a surgeon, but with my knowledge in physics and my ability to get into and around a body thanks to advanced-level anatomy classes (you know, like at the Dr. level) I could implant a body bomb. Any doctor could.

    They'd be incredibly ineffective.

Well, and there's the whole ethical challenge.

Besides the point, anyone with enough knowledge of human anatomy and the right tools could do it. It wouldn't necessarily have to be a doctor.

This fear mongering is insane. I'd expect nothing less from the imbeciles at TSA.

I think the ethics values are different for someone who is willing to strap on a bomb and detonate it. I'm sure there are doctors who share the same values. The real question, is it doable (seems the answer is yes) and how much damage can be achieved?

I still want an answer from TSA workers; if you do discover a device like this at a checkpoint do you think you will collect your next paycheck?

The intelligence community also believed Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, did they not? And launched a war on that basis only to be proved dead wrong. Screw those guys. They'll say whatever they're told to tell us. Like Fox trotting out General McInerney in October 2010 to warn us that planes would be falling out of the skies without the new devices and gropes. All a scam, every bit of it.

The big question is _how much_. I am willing to bet dollars to donuts that any amount that can be implanted will not be enough. Especially if you are talking about inside-body detonation.

Two, I believe. What I don't believe is that the bomb was in fact in the bra.

You're hunch is probably correct. Articles currently available on the two crashes don't seem to mention bras at all.

In fact, the intelligence community didn't believe he had WMD. The powers-that-be started a war anyway.
