Reverse Robocall Turns Tables On Politicians

Couldn't have come at a better time, either. Seems congressional apathy to the needs of the public has hit an all-time high.

Minnesota is known and ridiculed for having the "largest legislative body in America" -- 201 legislators, if my memory is correct, most of whom would better serve the public by staying home and doing something productive.

About 20 years ago when I discovered that my new-fangled 2400 baud Zoom modem had "fax modem" capabilities, I used to let it run all night & often relaying pieces of my mind to each & every one of them.

I could really dig Reverse Robocall.

I think Pennsylvania beats you there. They also have those awful state stores -- the only place where you can buy alcohol, and a piss-poor selection it is, too.

You are right. At 203 bozos, the PA legislature is larger. I might also be way out of date on the subject -- a quick Google search suggests that the MN legislature is merely the 5th largest now.

Unfortunately, we have plenty of municipal-owned liquor stores.

Much as I love this idea, I'm not quite sure it's legal....

However, if it is legal, you know what would be fun?

Raise a pile of money on kickstarter so that you can fund your robocalls and not have to pay for them out of pocket. Teach others to raise money so that they can fund their calls. Make sure that your message is a political one so that you have First Amendment protection, and then call away. :p

The robocall bill is dead. Doornail action.

    Uncle! Terry kills robocalls bill

WASHINGTON — Rep. Lee Terry's robocalls bill is dead.
"We're driving a stake through its heart," the Omaha Republican said Wednesday. "Dead. Done. Buried."
The legislation would have made it easier for people to receive autodialed, pre-recorded messages on their cellphones.

It was intended to help people conveniently receive information they wanted — notification of flight delays, school closings, prescription drug recalls and the like — while prohibiting unwanted calls, such as telemarketing solicitations.

But consumer groups condemned the proposal, saying it would open cell users to a flood of annoying calls that would drain their minutes.
