http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/54979422-78/airport-warrants-police-background.html.csp I wonder how many worked for TSA? So much for a secure sterile area.
Why the criticim? This says to me that they are being nabbed before they get their SIDA access. Being a federal agency, TSA probably has its own channels for the the background checks, but local employers & the airport will be going through their own PD. What's amazing is that so many stupid people with warrants on them will still submit to background checks.
Not a criticism of the police, I'm glad they caught them. Just a comment on how useless TSA is at keeping criminals out of the secure area without screening. The severity of the crime is irrelevant. A background check that misses a DUI warrant is the same as if it missed attempted murder. Either way the background checked failed.
But there's no indication that anything "failed". Someone who already worked at the airport might have properly passed a background check at the time but later killed someone or just neglected to pay a parking ticket.
True, but what good are background checks done every five years for people with access to the 'sterile" area? If that is the case then TSA should screen me once every five years and leave me alone for another five years.
