In the wake of the shooting in Aurora, CO... every anti-gun nut has come out of the wood work pushing for tighter gun control. Even came up in a shift meeting at work... The one anti-gunner (originally from NY State) got a earful, and after 30 min saw the lightbulb come on. <SMH>

Reuters sinks to a new low in flawed piss poor journalism

Statistically small sample and screams of rigged like TSA "highly trained professionals"

:vomit:You spineless piece of :trash:. We don't need more dumbass "laws"or "restrictions" which will lead to more incidents like this, as criminals wont . A Armed Society is a Polite society you tuck fard.

In the light of recent events (ontop of the election/zombie frenzy in progress) , and a deal I could nt really resist. I went ahead and pushed forward the order I had for parts that require FFL transfers or Class III paperwork/tax stamps. These projects were originally planned for later in the year, but now a JIC of SHTF. It will be intresting as the local fedex drivers eyes will bug out with the volume and weight coming in over the next two weeks.

If any person or group wants to change our right to bear arms then go ahead, create a Constitutional Amendment, have it pass Congress, and be ratified by the states.

We have an app for that!

Of course, none of the restrictions proposed in the poll would have stopped the Aurora perp.

The anti-gunners would like to say otherwise, even through those with a brain know is full of crap. My favorite was they want to ban drums which is ludicrous as any trained shooter can go through 5 20rd mags or 3 full & 1 partial in the same amount of time including mag changes. I'd take 20/30 rd mags over a beta-mag strictly due to weight on the weapon.

Not to mention the notorious jam and spring degradation rates.

I won't buy beta-mags as I can buy many more magpul p-mags for the same money.

I can't find the video but it was a member of the US Army Marksmanship unt who was using a Daniel Defense (I think not sure) semi auto AR frame who even with 3 mag changes was doing the equivalent of 500 rds/min from a semi auto (4" grouping) while the guy using a full auto was 2-3 seconds behind with only using a beta mag.

We had a guy in Germany that was just about as fast with mag changes (for 100 rds) as the kid with the 60 could rattle them off, add in the "required" 3-5 round bursts from the 60 and it was no contest at all. I would venture that if you have some basic talent in that arena and really practice and work at it, you can achieve Ninja status (because this guy in Germany was not worth a crap at anything BUT shooting).

Edit to add: what you describe above, sounds like it is pretty brutal to watch, from a user perspective, sort of would make you feel a shade inadequate in your own mechanics!

It appears that reading is not a requirement to work in the news industry any more, basic info checking on your own photo is (or at least used to be) a primary concern for journalists when I was young... Sadly, not so much anymore. I am not up to speed on .45s and their manufacturers, but that looks similar to a Kimber a friend has, any of you know the maker for that particular one?

If that's a Kimber (big if) it's a much older one. I own 2 kimbers and I'm noticing that there is no party showing of the take down pin on that side or slide release. Then the checker pattern doesn't look right and the magazine doesn't look right as they are normally flush with the bottom.

Looks more like a remmington or one of the many cheap knock offs that you see at cheaper than dirt.

Certainly not a Glock but does have some of the characteristics of a Kimber or one of the many 1911's available from many manufacturers.

Unlikely. That ".45 ACP" stamp is where the "Remington" maker's mark is usually located.

Also, from the image it looks like the magazine is removed, as the weapon seems to be sitting on a display case shelf at a gun shop. The ID card is cropped out.

The image is that of a Les Baer custom .45. I used to see a bunch of them when I was shooting competitively (never owned one, USAMU has our own custom shop).

Does the <SMH> in the thread title mean something (e.g. Sydney Morning Herald???), or should I clean it up?

"Shaking my head." Variations include "SMDH," "SMFH."
