    Best system is a combination of several sources, if you have them. Solar/wind, or solar/wind/hydro if you're fortunate. If you have a synchronizing inverter backfeeding is not an issue.

    I think if the government had bailed out the homeowners rather than the mortgage banks home values would still be high and the real estate market and construction sector would be healthy.

    As it is, I don't see any end to the bailout of banks. The housing market is taking another dive.

    Backfeeding is an issue because utility workers don't want dead lines fed from customers' generators. Backfeeding is fine when the power company is also supplying power.

    That's how the synchronizing inverter is designed: No signal from outside and the connection is broken. You have to manually reset after city power is restored.

    That wasn't always the case. However, I haven't looked seriously at the stuff since the year 2000 arrived and the lights stayed on.
