Bayou Buzz: Armstrong airport investigation prompts temporary checkpoint closure Saturday morning

An investigation into a suspicious package shut down a security checkpoint and grounded some flights at Armstrong International Airport for about an hour Saturday morning.

A spokeswoman with the Transportation Security Administration said the incident was triggered at the Concourse B checkpoint. During a screening, security workers noticed an item inside a passenger's carry-on bag, which they considered suspicious.

All flights at Concourse B were grounded at that time.

Explosive experts were called in to investigate and determined that the item was not a threat. The TSA spokesperson would not elaborate on what the item was.

Fox 8 WVUE / New Orleans: Saturday morning investigation closes airport checkpoint

Fox 8 WVUE / New Orleans said:

An suspicious item investigation at Louis Armstrong Airport shut down a security checkpoint for 45 minutes this morning.

A spokesperson for the airport says Concourse B closed at 8 AM and reopened at 8:45 AM.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) tells Fox 8 that a suspicious item was seen in a passenger's carry-on bag through X-ray devices forcing officials to take precautions.

TSA officials froze all operations at the airport during this period.

Transportation Explosive Experts were on scene of the incident and determined that the package was not a threat.

I know I busted a gutt laughing over the frozen turducken and home-made deer hunting spot-light that was "caught" around Thanksgiving 2010. The TSA sure put that good 'ol boy through the wringer.
