Arson in Des Moines, now murder in Mountain City, Tennessee. Why do people take this so seriously? I saw precursors of this on a pre-internet system (PLATO) in the 70's where we had email & communities on a network of interlinked systems (users in all 50 states, Canada & Europe). Even then there could be drama when people were denied access to things, but at least we didn't kill each other or burn down houses. We didn't have "friending" but due to the immediate nature of the communications, it was obvious when you were being ignored.
