    Well written piece in Reason.

P.S. Frommer has another apologist piece but the link is messed up and commenting seems to be blocked.

It Would Be Wonderful if TSA Critics Had Proposals for Preventing Terrorism in the Skies

Frommer link won't open for me.

According to the comments to the Reason article, there is an editorial in the current Playboy about the TSA. Does anyone have access to it?

I'd give it a few hours. Seems to be something wrong with his server or whatever. I can't load any of his pages. Once they get it straightened out, I bet it'll load.

I was able to load Frommer's page.

He is asking for positive recommendations for fixing TSA or we should just shut up. Of course he starts off with the red herring of no security at all.
Please take a few minutes and leave a comment. I will be working on one myself.

Sorry spoke to soon. I was able to load the page, read the article, and then went to log in but can't load the page again.

Frommer has thrown down a challenge so we need to stay on top of this and be sure to comment as soon as possible.

I still can't load the Frommers link in post #1. Perhaps someone with some internet tech savy can see if it is me or something on the other end.

    I get 503 & 504 timeouts with Firefox, 504 timeout with Opera.

Just as well -- people really don't need to read Frommer's blather. Failed attorney, now serving as TSA's sucky two-bit irrumator.

I left a comment at Frommer's and see that other TUGers have as well. I repeated what I've written there before and told him so, since he always claims -- falsely -- that we never propose anything.

I think it's great to respond to posts like his, but on the issue that 'we never propose anything'.....

It's not our job to propose anything. If DHS/TSA machines and screening tactics don't work, that's their problem. Either make them work within the confines of the law or get out of Dodge.

Seriously, it's not our job to propose ways to help build the police state.

    Those are my two cents.

    Sunny Goth, good point.

And actually, I'd like to see you post that at Frommer's.

Well I can't get to the site again nor was I able to log in to comment earlier.

It may not be our job to make suggestions but we all know of changes we would like to see made at TSA. For me I cannot understand how TSA can't recognize the need to fully screen everyone who enters what they call the sterile area. Some need to be screened before exiting also, like TSA employees and those with access to cargo and baggage.

I would also like to see an escalating screening process. WTMD with random ETD testing. If no concerns noted job is done. Otherwise use increasing levels of screening until any alarms are resovled.

In my mind these two things would improve security and resolve many of the screening issues the traveling public has with TSA.

I'll have to create a new account with another throw-a-way email address, but maybe I just will - after breakfast. :)
