So if a group of people started contacting companies who advertise on FT about certain issues I wonder if that would garner any attention?

Raw user accounts & raw post counts have no effect on advertising. Advertisers pay by view (PPM) and by click (PPC).

What will get FT over time is obsolesence of its platforum --vBulletin is dead meat. However it has so much intertia that it will take YEARS to run down and might yet grow in the interim.

Don't waste your time. Specific ads are selected by the advertisizer (e.g. Google Adsense) based on the content of each page. It is possible for ads to be targeted but you'll never know which ones are; most aren't.

No, this was a guy who posted mainly in the Delta forum several years ago, but yes, Bart did that do.

Another indicator of an outbreak of PMS "over there" is that we've suddenly had several new member registrations in the last few days.

I've had 6 or 7 screennames bounced out of the other place (the last being "chew toy"). With the last one just the other night when I called, bob, & ron out on the cupcake and JFK non apology. I in a nasty gram from chew toy who got all bent out of shape and threatened to ban me. I replied with" oh I'm really scared ... I'm shaking in my boots. Maybe if you get off your knees and pull TSAs (insert male anatomy) out of your mouth, and respect people opinion/freedom of speech I might tone it down. You made your bed you can lie in itso FOAD".

Chew toy came back with, my ip address and other "tracking data" and said s/he was going to ban my IP address, even threatened to call my employer. I highly doubt that but if that had happened I would have sent my lawyer after IB and chew toy to wreak havoc. Two can play that game which logged out and back in through a different location (gotta a love surfing anonymously and being good friends with the director of IT), and replied "really... You sure about that?". Then rinsed repeated through 5 separate times from different "locations". That got that "screenname" banned, but other sockpuppet accounts from those IP ranges still work.

I wish I did screen caps of those, posts and messages but having gobs of domains/emails so I can go on & on I just don't as it's not worth the time anymore. The irony is there are a few cupcake comments that are still there.

    Which chew toy?

Yeah I got a laugh out of that as I've never publically said who my employer is on the other place nor here; just my profession as my screenname is a dead give away. Even though I could drop some hints that DFW area locals would get, and know pdq I won't say for opsec.

Squeaker is the mod that sent the nasty gram. The screen name was toy masticando (latin for chew toy) , and all of the posts were deleted then banned.

When RP started MilePoint, squeakr got a bit bent out of shape because everybody wasn't going to be forced to be all icky sweet & nice, like Fodor's.

If you want nice, icky sweet forums like Fodor's, go to Fodor's.

Have they never heard of Tor? Proxies? VPNs?

(expletive deleted), have they never heard of residential broadband connections with dynamic IP addresses?

I would strongly suggest you let the Community Director now about this exchange, because that mod has no right to imply threatening your employment. Even if you don't think it's important, there's no reason to believe it couldn't or hasn't happened to somebody else.

I second this. It sounds like they're suffering from TSA-itis, assuming more authority than they actually have. Talk to the director and if the director fails you, a strongly-worded nastygram from your lawyer should be enough to send them scurrying for cover.

Just like a schoolyard bully - they act tough until you pop them in the nose.

    Not worth $100+

You guys just need to learn to move on -- there's a whole world out there that doesn't involve the jerk moderators that we left behind.

TUG how now been around now for 7+ months and we have yet to suspend anybody.

CW - I don't think chew toy is that smart. Heck work has several dedicated IP addresses for there servers but everything else is dynamic. Heck my phones ip address changes every hour or so just from looking at the log FB keeps. Again there not that smart and I think chew toy was bluffing. Then again general counsel at work is of the opinion as long as what you do off duty doesn't land the company in the news. No harm no foul.

Mike - you had it pegged in the cost; roughly and I've seen that comment from Sr. Mods over there as well. Now if chew toy had called my employer I would have dropped the Benjamin without thinking twice as the threat of a lawsuit would get there attention and have a good entertainment value.
