But of course, this is just an unconnected bad-apple incident. The actions of this one rogue (not-actually-police-but-please-begin-conjuring-up-notions-of-respectable-and-authoritative-law-enforcement-personnel-now) Officer do not reflect on--

One begins to wonder how much it will take before the TSA hollers "uncle!" and gives up the pretense.

The headline should be "Transportation Security Administration agent caught stealing $5,000 from a passenger"...

I think we can help the process along by doing what we can to make the demotivator (or another like it) go viral. A picture really is worth a thousand words and something that unmistakably conveys the message that "These 'unconnected' incidents are anything but" should help to get more people to realize how deep the problem runs.

I rather like this, but am not seeing an option to change the thread title. Could a coach take care of this when they get a free minute? No rush.

Odd, I haven't seen the Word doc template from the TSA saying how this "does not reflect on the rest of our workforce" yet.

Good news day today. I've already sent 2 emails to the reps. :)

They're having trouble retrieving it from the Google cache, since they can't be arsed to keep a local copy.

More likely, a TSA employee stole the computer that the doc was saved on.

This is just nuts. I don't even have anything to add. I mean, really, how many of these thefts have been made public this week? The iPads, money, man!

So over just the last few weeks we know of thieving TSA employees at MIA, DFW, and the latest at JFK. During that same time frame there have been zero attempts of a terrorist attack on any airline flight screened by TSA.

I can only conclude that any real risk to my safety is because of TSA and its band of thieves.

Not a theft, but there was also the EWR terminal dump. That's 3 in a week.

Oh, Celtic, my comment was not directed at the thread title--I was not at all clear, sorry--I should have said the story lede in the press should change. The press describes this as, "Look, a TSA agent stealing," when the news is really that TSA actually broke down and nabbed one of their own. I guess they were faced with a humongous smoking gun.

As you point out in your demotivator-- theft in this and how many hundreds, thousands, millions of other instances? Like Fisher says, travelers often paying extra (to check bags) and be stolen from.

Given past record, the thief will only get 22 days in jail.
