Getting on the train at noon today, heading for NYC.

One female pedosmurf and some guy in a TSA golf shirt with "INSPECTOR" below the seal. Plus five armored "Department of Homeland Security POLICE" whatever they are. Not one AMTRAK police officer in sight. No groping or baggage fondling occurred in my presence.

Only item of note is that as I was heading for the platform a guy wearing a "New York Department of Homeland Security" golf shirt handed me a "safety pamphlet" which I will attempt to upload. Currently using the AMTRAK WiFi.

Here's a PDF of the pamphlet.

I love number 7, "Pulling people into position and moving them around without actually committing a terrorist act."

I sure hope that some hawk-eyed passenger reported this Penn Station flash mob to the Amtrak police.

How much did this drivel cost to print? Questioning crew members about schedules? You mean the way a -- passenger -- would do?

I've always wondered what a TSO Inspector dude does. I have seen such guys at the T subway bag checkpoints. Seems like a cushy job.

Makes me wonder if the memorandum Chief O'Connor demanded from TSA/DHS after the Savannah fiasco requires the presence of Amtrak PD whenever bag searches are conducted. He insisted they could only do what Amtrak PD is allowed to do, search one in 20 bags, no search of the person, as that is illegal, sans probable cause.

Perhaps flash mobs are the answer. Any time a report of TSA activity is announced Flash Mob the place.

I don't like this one bit. It smacks of conditioning. First they just show up, stand around, hand out pamphlets. Make sure that "Department of Fatherland Stupidity POLICE" is displayed big and bold so the people know who has the power, who has the authority, who is THE LAW around here, but don't do any real interacting.

Once people start shrugging their shoulders, they ramp up their interaction with (i.e. harrassment of) the public and bank on people's indifference or complacency to shield them from pushback.

I think it's no coincidence that this happens just after Chief O'Connor retired. I really hope the new incoming Amtrak police chief is as much of a bulldog as O'Connor was when it comes to keeping blue-shirted terrorists out of train stations.

To summarize the pamphlet in a few words: If you're a brown-skinned tourist taking the train for the first time, asking questions about the train's schedule and destination, and taking photos, you're a possible terrorist.

Seems to me if I do the first two items on the what you can do to prevent terrorism list, I will be committing #1 of the signs of terrorism.

Guess it doesn't really matter since I have also been known to do about half the things on the signs of terrorism list. Where do I turn myself in?

Yes, supposedly Amtrak police must accompany the TSA dolts, and the TSA isn't even allowed on the property unless "invited" by Amtrak. But clearly Amtrak is doing a lot of inviting, since we have so many reports of people seeing the TSA along with Amtrak PD.

Except in my case there were no AMTRAK PD to be seen. All I saw was this "Department of Homeland Security Police."

Were they searching bags or just hanging around?

If I recall correctly, some of the DHS funding goes to local LE and/or state Homeland Security to waste on these sorts of inane activities. Basically a Federal handout to favored states.

I would like to know where they got the 8 signs of terrorism considering none of these bozos have ever seen an actual terrorist.

I couldn't resist. Take a look at this really cool flash mob in Spain.

You realize they were celebrating the 130th anniversary of an evil capitalist bank? The wicked bankers were behind this!

Is Banco Sabadell evil/corrupt in the same way JPM Chase and Goldman Sachs are? Dunno. Probably not in the same position to manipulate as those US banks. Banco Sabadell is probably close to bankruptcy though.
