San Francisco Weekly: BART Might Be Disgusting, But At Least It's Safe -- Sorta (July 18 2013) According to a press release, the TSA awarded BART this "Gold Standard" rating for multiple reasons, including the transit agency's security plans, security training, drills/exercise programs, public outreach efforts, and finally, its background check programs.Still confused, we contacted BART spokeswoman Luna Salaver to find out more about how safe we are on trains, however she told us that was a question for the TSA. So we contacted the TSA to ask the same question. Interestingly enough, the TSA told us that question was best for BART to answer.
It was a delayed award for Bart policeman Johannes Mehserle shooting one of the mundanes (Oscar Grant) in the back while laying down handcuffed and getting away with it, with minimal jail time. Exemplifying how to keep your foot on the neck of the citizenry serfs.
Wouldn't an award from TSA be a slap in the face to responsible groups or people? If it was me I would publicly decline TSA's award and ask TSA to not use my name/group name in any way.
I ride BART all the time when I'm in SF. I had to read the date on the article twice to make sure it hadn't been dated April 1.
