More theater thanks to the machines that don't really test for explosives ...

The Denver Channel: Farmer Tests Positive For Explosives At Airport: Farmer Was Detained While Police Investigated

Reporter Herald: Fort Collins-Loveland airport security detains farmer who tested positive for fertilizer

    Or hand lotion?

Probably wasn't C4 since we've seen a few pounds of that fly. :D

So are these cloth patches chemically treated or not as claimed by some TSA (expletive deleted)'s? If they are treated shouldn't we have the right to review the MSDS before having the item placed on our skin or property?

  3. I hope more incidents like these start to hit the news. This ETD false positive problem should be as well known as scope-n-grope.

In addition, I thought the TSA could not detain any one:

I have never heard of chemically treated pads for the ETD machines we have, they are simply cloth pads that pick up trace material.

Possible guerilla action: make sure everyone you know who's a naysayer, denier, or TSA apologist is amply touched with glycerin or fertilizer before they get on a plane. Show your concern for their tender skin by handing them lotion or caressing their hands with your lotion-moistened ones, or hug and kiss them and tousle their hair after you've come in from gardening. Spread the cheer.
