TSA is making friends once again.

TSA and Detain, I bet thats going to play well at HQ.

Pistole, what is it you are teaching these TSA Screening Clerks?

I cannot see this ending well for them in any form or fashion.

Missed your post and posted same story. Maybe a coach will delete my later post.

Isn't there something in the old out of date Constitution about legislators being allowed to travel without interference?

    Section. 6.

Clause 1: The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. (See Note 6) They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, beprivileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.

Better idea, morons: Start with a screening technology that doesn't result in 54% false positives. MMW has been mostly put on ice in Europe after the German evaluation at Hamburg found a 54% rate of false positives.

Now they're claiming "But we didn't detain anyone! He refused THE PROCESS (TM)! Anyone who refuses THE PROCESS(TM) gets escorted out by THE LAW! Respect our authoritah!"

And, of course, that's a lie. He reportedly even offered to go through the Nude-O-Scope again. He (like I probably would, too) simply refused to let some blue-shirted/blue-gloved high-school drop-out touch his junk.

Amy Alkon and I have both done posts on it at TSA News. I include some historical stuff about other people having this happen to them, too.

If only that were true. (I keep hoping, cause what else are we gonna do, but that flicker is mighty small.)

Are we taking up a defense fund for his impending $10,000 civil fine they threatened him with (I'm guessing)

Not to be nitpicky, but it's $11,000. You know how the TSA are sticklers for the rules! ;)

Eh, so what? The headlines might as well be "Scan Accepted". Unless he trashes both the patdowns and the scanners in his press conference, I don't see this doing much good. He's just being particular about which civil liberties violation he finds unacceptable. Maybe, maybe it will bring some awareness that patdowns frequently follow scans, but I don't see that being worth much.

Good point, Jack. But anything, no matter how small, that brings attention to this issue is good.

That was kind of my take on it too. He went right on through the scanner and offered to do it again!

I'm glad he refused the grope, but it would have been better if he had refused both.
