Seems like odd timing given that these are being removed. But better late than never.

TSA is only removing the non-ATR version of TSA Backscatter Strip Search Machines. They are still looking for an ATR Backscatter Strip Search Machine so TSA can radiate the public again.

The timing is good for Rulemaking comments, and anyone who wants to chime in on GAO and Appropriations issues--TSA is certainly continuing to spend money on backscatter.

The potential exposure levels to employees --without dosimeter badges---parked working by these TSA-calibrated machines shows TSA's deliberate neglect of human health concerns.

I should feel sorry for the TSA Clerks that have to stand near these TSA Backscatter Strip Search Machines, but I don't.

You'll feel sorry for them when you have to deal with the next generation of mutant screeners with two heads that still don't add up to one.

But at least it'll be easier for them to always have their head lodged firmly up their (expletive deleted). More manageable when you have a spare head.

Some I have ran into already appear to be mutants of some species.

I wasn't paying close attention to this until I Googled for TSA news today and noticed that the person's specific complaint was that the Nude-O-Scopes were responsible for her MS.

My wife has MS and we had never heard of a linkage between ionizing radiation & MS, but it's there. It's not fully accepted as the cause of MS (a viral connection is thought to be in there) but in some areas the linkage between radon gas & MS is well established. Ionizing radiation is also accepted as the probable cause of Down's syndrome.

That two more reasons to avoid the Nude-O-Scopes: MS for you, and Down's syndrome for your kids.

Here is an article on the subject: Linkage -- Multiple Sclerosis and Ionizing Radiation

And before you blame the Nude-O-Scopes for all the retarded screeners we encounter, remember that causality must precede the result. These bozos arrive on the job already retarded and can't get much dumber.

The fundamental flaw has been TSA's odd refusal to allow independent testing of both scanners and allow sceeners to wear dosimeters. If these are as safe as they insist they are why not let anyone who wants to test them do so?

The fact is that the genie is out of the bottle, it just hasn't materialized yet. As these machines age and get sold into the commercial market, there will be testing results and images that become publicly available. TSA's lies about the scanners will then be outed and there will be renewed backlash and likely hearings similar to those that IRS and DoJ are facing. It's simply a matter of time.

A bit OT but now is the time to contact electeds and complain about TSA secrecy and refusal to provide the public with any semblance of rules we must comply with.

I absolutely agree. It would be best if activists maintain the offensive and keep allegations against TSA, DHS and other corrupt agencies coming at a furious pace. It keeps them off balance and builds public pressure on the bureaucracies that have spun out of control since enactment of the unpatriotic "Patriot Act".

Treasury, State, Justice, and the White House are under fire. Let's toss in some DHS for good measure.

I posted such to the KTLA article but interestingly, it didn't show up.
