Schmarrn?! or is this in fact true, and if so, what is the purpose? (Other than to possibly appease the masses, but a line for the masses is hardly special treatment, is it?) So confused...
I've heard rumors of this mythical line. It apparently is only at PIT, and was an initiative of the local airport management. Now, why would you ask, do they need an expedited line? It certainly can't be because this new whizbang technology that TSA is using is pathetically slow, is it?
So, do they have a Trusted Traveller line, an elite line, a Y with 1 bag line, a family line, a medical liquids line, and a 'all others' line?!
Haven't been to PIT in ages, but I'm guessing they have an Elite line, a Y w/ 1 bag, and an unwashed masses line. Every airport has different setups. I flew out of an airport today that had 2 lines. No elite line, in spite of the fact that it's a hub. There were just 2 lines labeled, and I'm not making this up, "Line 1" and "Line 2". Inconsistency, you know. It keeps the terrorists on their toes.
Economy class. The masses. I think that this was something to appease the ordinary traveller who doesn't fall into a specific category.
This is the set up at PIT, at least at the main checkpoint. My guess is the Y-with-1-bag line is the future trusted traveler line.
MDW had multiple lines several years ago that I thought worked pretty well. It was either three or four lanes, expert traveler, family w/children and occasional flyers. There may have been fourth for wheelchairs, crutches etc. I was surprised how few took the expert lane but it moved like clockwork. It was like everyone was racing to get their laptop out, jacket off and through the WTMD.
