Would be no different under a different POTUS. This sort of garbage is always perpetrated by the Pistoles of the world. He could have resigned, like the attorney general did under Nixon when Nixon ordered him to fire Archibald Cox, the special prosecutor. He didn't. He gets the blame from me.

These are the same dim bulbs that stick their hands into afros to see if they'll explode. If it were actually about detecting explosives and protecting us from them, their approach would be completed different.

Oh, don't get me wrong. Pistole's just as guilty as his boss, her boss, and every TSA employee who puts on a blue shirt and claims to be "just following orders."

They haven't fired him, he hasn't resigned, and they still have somewhere north of 65,000 blue-shirted thugs and clowns willing to go to work every day to drop a deuce on the Constitution and the traveling public.

Is there any sign of TSA figuring out something different for this category of passenger? I wonder if ATR handles this better and if this issue will be mooted by the move to ATR and away from the peepers. I can't believe Pistole and co would be so politically stupid as to think this will ever blow over. It won't.

In all likelihood they'll just keep trying to ramp up the invasiveness of their dog-and-pony show, claiming that they're being "tougher than ever on terrorism."

Watch the movie "The Siege" with Denzel Washington & Bruce Willis. The Willis character's line about how he plans to "seal off and squeeze" the NYC neighborhood in order to force the terrorists out of hiding comes repeatedly to mind when I hear Reichskommissar John S. Pistole talking about how "We know terrorists do X so we have to do Y to stop them." I seriously hope that man gets bone cancer from a body scanner.

Pistole, I mean. Not Bruce Willis.

I don't know. Millions of people are still just fine with it, including most of my family, friends, and colleagues. They're clueless. Rather, they don't give a (expletive deleted), as long as it doesn't happen to them.

Which is why I hope it gets worse, as it always does, sooner rather than later.

Then, maybe then, those people will notice.

As for ATR missing breast "anomalies", it would seem to me that the machine could be set to ignore, or be less sensitive on, the breast area. Of course then it'll be returning false negatives, but Anything for Security! as the saying goes...

OK, tell me, I really want to know this. How do they test for implanted BOMBS (not boobs)? How could they even simulate a situation where a woman (or perhaps a "shim") has implanted explosive devices?? I know for sure that I would never volunteer to be the Red Team member who had to pose as the terrorist de jour in that scenario!

With the current screening "technology"? They can't.

    The whole thing's a sham.

Either they bought the wrong equipment on accident, or they're really looking for drugs and large sums of money.

    It really is that simple.

    Bingo.

If they really thought there was a bomb in someone's underwear or Afro, they wouldn't be sticking their hands in there.

"Invincibly ignorant." Just like any TSA employee who really believes they're contributing to airside security.

Don't know if this deserves its own thread; if so, somebody can post where appropriate. Chris Elliott's latest -- always good to go over there and counter the relentless TSA apologists (Carver in particular, about as puffed-up and pedantic as they come) -- and I agree the poll is poorly worded, but we should be able to get beyond that:
TSA watch: Are screeners preying on sick passengers?

I agree. Most of my friends think I'm making a big deal out of nothing. I've been told several times to "get over it" - well, I'm not going to "get over it" and if that means not flying until this BS changes then so be it. One friend who is my age said, "who cares if they see or touch your wrinkly old body". Simple answer - I care! What part of having your rights violated don't these people understand?

  15. That's such a weird line of thinking. Would these people strip naked for anyone who asks? Would they let some weirdo on a bus put his hand on their crotches because, who cares? I don't get it.

It's been mentioned here elsewhere, but there seems to be some sick thought process that this is how we show our patriotism.

The thinking seems to go something like this:
    1. Terrorists want to kill us! 9/11! Never forget!
    2. The government is just doing its job in keeping terrorism! at bay
    3. Do anything and everything the TSA asks, do it gleefully, do it without questioning, try and do more than they ask
    4. Prove your patriotism by proving your innocence
    I know, it's bizarre. I don't understand it, either.

they are looking for scars on the assumption it *might* be the result of implantation. how they would resolve *that* is beyond me.... by feeling? gotta be kidding. etd, if it worked would be the only way, and that could be defeated also.

people assume that because it is the federal government, the best and the brightest are coming up with these things. In reality, it's a mixed bag, depending on the agency or area. In NASA, maybe. In TSA, they get the dumber than red brick variety to work for them. And I'm not referring to the front line clerks, but to the people up top who get paid lots of money, and come up with THIS nonsense. A firing squad is too good for these guys.

Except that in post-NoS gropes, there is no swabbing then checking the ETD. They simply grope and grab and send the victim on her way. That proves nothing.

I wish that part of the procedure would somehow get into the record. It's the fait accompli that the grope and the scope are not equal screening mechanisms.

The front line clerks currently consist of those who enjoy performing the gropes, whether because they're perverts or thieves looking for an opportunity, and the dregs of the existing workforce who're unemployable in any other capacity.

The ones making up the nonsense appear to actually be smarter - they manage to give stupid orders that others are dumb enough to carry out.

Silly boy, don't you know by now that the NoS is designed to find explosives? The grope is to find the detonator.
