Of all the useless things TSA does I think the ID check is the most useless non-security related thing TSA could possibly do. The names are not compared to any reference so we have 1,000's of man hours being wasted by useless TSA procedures daily.

To be effective each ID would have to be compared to some reference although I suspect the NFL is to closely held to allow the common screeners access. Even then, as reported in this article, http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/sep/23/states-make-fake-ids-quick-and-easy/ getting a valid ID is not a challenge in this country.

So perhaps someone can explain to me the security function being met by the TSA TDC.

If anything, the ID checks should be performed by persons who've learned that Alaska is actually part of the United States, and that drivers' licenses issued in AK are valid ID.

That means someone other than a TSA employee, of course.

Yep. And the TSA employee sitting in the break room in Philadelphia was almost a holey cow.

Don't sweat it, just use a fake one! In today's news ...

Washington Times: States make fake IDs quick and easy: Feds test forged birth certificates

Federal investigators were able to get fraudulent driver’s licenses in all three states where they tried, according to a report released Friday that shows continued problems with states’ ID programs more than 11 years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks highlighted the problem.

States are particularly flummoxed by out-of-state documents, according to investigators from the Government Accountability Office who conducted the audit.

The investigators used forged birth certificates purportedly issued by Ohio and New York, and successfully submitted them in three other states.

    Thanks for the tip! :)
