I watched him delivering that line on the local tv station last night and almost got sick. Boston has more cameras than NYC and it didn't stop this guy. Cameras don't stop criminals, at least not determined ones.

As sick as this act in Boston was, this guy was SMART, not like all the others the FBI has crowed about stopping in their tracks. No one is going to catch the smart ones.

So the TSA is dialing up their "alert status?"

Wouldn't that mean that they had some employees who're capable of being "alert?" I mean, to more than things they can potentially steal, or people they can potentially abuse?

Or are they simply upgrading the status from "Steal Cupcakes and iPads" to "Pee Pants?"

"Corrupt NYC Politician" is triply redundant.

I'm not certain that that last sentence is entirely true, but I absolutely agree that they're not going to be caught by throwing more surveillance at the problem. You need smart ones doing smart work behind the scenes to catch smart criminals. Cameras and jack-booted DHS pig-thugs will never get the job done.

It's the "little boy crying wolf" redux times a bazillion. Look for unattended luggage, look for .... and this droned on and on for years. The result is that folks get tired of it and let their guard down. Nobody thought twice about the unattended bit of garbage next to the receptacle.

Survellance cameras will only help identify the bad actor after the fact and when it is to late. No idea who did this bombing in Boston but I certainly don't think it is time to extend Global entry to Saudi's or anyone else from the middle east areas.

My guess has been that it could be associated with North Korea since it was reported. April 15 is a national holiday to celebrate the birth of Kim Il Sung, Un's grandfather. With the saber rattling from N. Korea it seems odd that this hasn't been at least considered. It's as likely as the theory attributing it to Saudis.

Or some domestic malcontent protesting taxation, as 04/15 is the tax deadline.

And the Waco Anniversary (4/19) is coming up.

It's also possible that some 4/20 celebrants were just too "bombed" to know what day it was.

What about 5/31? There has to be some kind of terrorist activity to memorialize on that day, right? I mean, after all, terrorists are everywhere doing their terroristic things every day in some part of the world!!

I've flown out of three airports since Monday, and had the same experience. Just the usual canned PA announcements about Saying Something if you See Something. Walked up and down the terminals looking for Gate Gropes, but saw none. Expected to get some Behavior Detection voodoo from the Trained Document Checker, but that didn't happen. I even totally blew off a TSA employee as my stuff was going through the x-ray, expecting a retaliatory secondary, but that didn't happen.
