Wait - I thought TSA clerks weren't allowed to "detain" anyone?

    :td:

OIC, so this Nosey Nellie was eavesdropping.

This is why people should mind their own beeswax.

Calling a TSA clerk a "Nosey Nellie" seems kind of redundant.

  5. Wait. This is from the Onion, right? Or it's an SNL sketch? It's just too good to be true.

  7. I googled about The Bomb. Sounds seriously yummy! Too bad there are a number of body scanners between it and me.

Link? Are you saying that they sell bombs at JFK? :D

We really need to get these retards out of our airports. There's a lot of trash that needs to be picked up along they highways.

  9. Well I don't know if it's a chain restaurant, but the internet suggests The Bomb comes from Sal, Kris, & Charlie's Deli in Astoria, NY.

Gets me thinking. What if somebody says something is "da bomb" and a screener overhears? Shouldn't that be like the N-word without the letter "r" on the end being socially acceptable? Otherwise it's racial profiling. Or something.

Showed those travelers about their so-called rights, huh?
What gets me, aside from escalator eavesdropping, is that after everyone knew this was about a sandwich, TSA elected to punish them anyway.

I thought the catchphrase was "SEE Something, Say Something."

Of course, based on that we should all be calling DHS every time we see someone in a blue-shirt uniform who looks like they're carrying both Fat Man and Little Boy in their ill-fitting uniform pants.

If you put the TSA out there, that's just a lot more trash...

  13. The other thing is the absurdity of thinking that people toting bombs around are going to be chatting openly about it. I'm sure they would at least have a code word set up for it, if they are any good at terrorism.

The Bomb is a 12" stuffed sandwich from a deli in Astoria.

Jason Michael Cruz learned the hard way about the brainiacs populating the TSA.
Cruz was detained and missed his flight because a TSA clerk overheard him talking about a sandwich that was “the bomb.”
Before all the TSA apologists come crawling out of the woodwork, let me ask you something: do you think that if a person were actually planning to bomb something, that that person would talk about it so openly and cavalierly?
I know I’m asking you to use logic here, but go with me on this.
Do you really think Acme Terrorists, Inc. are going around blithely talking about bombs within earshot of everyone else? Really??
The TSA clerk probably got a merit badge for her quick thinking in reporting the Scary Terroristy Threat to a supervisor, and that supervisor probably got promoted. Meanwhile, Cruz missed his flight.
Oh, well. We already know that the Department of Homeland Security has a list of Big Scary Terroristy Words for which they’re combing your emails and social media accounts. I guess it makes sense that its partner agency, the TSA, is likewise on the look-out.

Alas, TSA (Tub-Stackin' A$$hats) is only barely capable of catching really stupid terrorists.
I feel so much safer (knowing that there aren't any really stupid terrorists out there).:D

Evidence to the contrary. They have yet to do so at all, even at airports where the Magic Voodoo Mind-Reading Squads are "working."

Seems to me that TSA and its clerks should be held financially accountable for these types of things.

So....then the next solution is to make up a new rule, in the name of safety of the travelers, of course that no one is allowed to talk or make noises of any kind once they approach a checkpoint until they leave the check point. This would include restroom, all sterile areas, the food court, boarding area, gates, and inflight.

Then they'll start "detaining" people for not answering the asinine questions of the Behavioral Voodoo SPOTnik Squads.
