    Welcome to TUG, Sally_Oh!

How about demanding immediate medical attention after being assaulted in this manner?

Sally_Oh, I love the blog, yes you have a way with words :D

I would hate to be groped by the male TSA perv.
If he has no idea about sexual organs, god knows what would get chopped!!

    Welcome, Sally_Oh, from a fellow chop-ee.
Heck of a technique on the pat-up, huh? I look forward to learning more about the directives/training the TSOs have received for such assault, (since everyone is just following orders).
    Glad to meet you here!

This actually is an attack on the passenger, not a pat down. A police report should be filed.

TSA's video should be available for a short period of time, in order to help identify the TSOs.
In my case, TSA has still not responded to US Senators' inquiries on why info has not been provided to police. So, pervs with some serious protection.:td:

Update: contacted after posting, will be able to hopefully make ID and charge week of 8/15/11.

Wouldn't security be enhanced if TSOs simply knocked everyone unconscious with a baseball bat, or doped them up with morphine?

    Don't even joke....

With all that chopping going on maybe the TSA have started recruiting Ninjas?
I've met a few gropers who have the right demeanour to wear all black :)

Give them time. One of these days, they'll do exactly that, then strip and search everyone, pile them on slabs in the airplane like in a morgue, to fit more passengers, and send them on their way.

I've added this to the updated Master List along with the reports from the Colorado Springs woman and Denver Post writer. I wonder how many men are getting this treatment. The last one I recall by a male was the report by Barry Smitherman, Chairman of the Texas Public Utilities Commission.

KrazyKat, that post by Wil Wheaton is also in my Master List. I remember back when I found it, I posted it in lots of places in the blabbosphere, and was told by one TSA apologist that since Wheaton is a comedian, we can't believe what he says. !!!!

Also, Chris Elliott headlined one of his anti-TSA entries (a regular feature on his travel blog) with a story by a man:

This one's also in my Master List. I highlighted it when it happened, and posted it all over the blogosphere, thinking that a blunt admission by a TSA agent that yes, they were "punishing" Smitherman would make a dent with the TSA apologists. No such luck.

Interesting observation. I think I know why there has not been more negative reaction from men, however.

Men culturally are not as sensitive about their genital area which is "displayed" much more easily than a female's. There must be an evolutionary reason why a women's sex organs are concealed and, for the most part, women are taught to keep them that way.

However, methinks the TSA misjudged the way these pat downs to women would be received. Whether one has been sexually assaulted, one is very modest, or for wide variety of other reasons, a woman's perineum is almost "sacred" territory and off-bounds to anyone to whom she does not want to give access.

Therefore, when some unknown person sticks their hand in a woman's peineum and prods around, the immediate reaction is one of having been violated.

Agreed. Krazy Kat raises an intereting a point as well. Men certainly don't like this either but probably tend to conceal their reaction out of a societal expectation that they behave in a more "macho" fashion. If theses same stories were reported under male names public reaction would likely be different. Men have reported similar incidents but their versions tend to describe the event and dwell less on their feelings about it.

Traditionally, men have been expected to be protective of their wives and children, less protective of themselves and avoid "whining" even when justified. The old "suck it up" line used in the military pretty much describes how men are expected to react to abuse by authorities. The checkpoint situation similarly limits men's options. If given the opportunity to resort to violence, as one would have if assaulted in most other public settings, men would overwhelming react by punching their assailant. Since that would land them in jail if done at the checkpoint, they grumble or feign indifference and keep their emotions inside as they have been trained to do.

You can see the reactions of the TSA apologists in that Chris Elliott link I posted. The exhortations to "man up" are obnoxious. The cowards who write such things deserve some good gropes of their own.
