More gravy from TSA to provide what the government already has ... in real time from the airlines?

Too bad our local DJ who ran Heaven Hotline kicked the bucket himelf. He could get Sen. Proxmire on on the phone & get to the bottom of this.

Government Security News: TSA wants a firm to supply it twice a week with complete airline flight data (Oct 30 2012)

TSA has issued a solicitation to prospective vendors who can supply complete airline industry flight data -- including airline names, flight numbers, itinerary variations, identifiers, times of flight sectors and many other data elements -- on a twice-a-week basis.

The flight data will be provided for all commercial U.S. passenger airline flights originating in or terminating in the U.S. and U.S. territories. In addition, Help Desk support shall be provided for flight data questions, and will be available on a 24x7x365 basis, says a solicitation issued by the agency on Oct. 23.

They're not even trying to hide the wastefulness of this. Is this some pork-barrel pet project or what?
