Same story just the next chapter. OIG continues to point out that TSA has yet to properly implement any program and most are so ineffective that it makes one wonder why TSA didn't hire at least one adult. For $8 billion dollars a year is this really the best TSA can do? http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/05/us/report-says-tsa-screening-program-not-objective.html?hpw&_r=0 Rugape could be back to feeling up passengers and splitting the uprights if Congress cuts funding for the TSA SPOT kabuki theater.
I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you! Not that I believed this program was effective by any measure. It lacked any scientific basis and is fielded by people unqualified to do much else. Yet here we are, 5 years later and a billion dollars wasted on another failed and poorly thought out TSA program. This awful organization and it's sadistic, stupid employees continue to lie, mislead and steal from American's every day. We are worse off as a country with the TSA than we would be without it.
Or, better yet, the TSA could simply fire anyone dumb enough (to believe in it) or evil enough (to pretend to believe in it) to have played the stupid SPOTnik game in the first place, including everyone involved, top to bottom. But that would make sense, so the TSA will never do it.
On behalf of our readers, I must excuse my members for insinuating that pot-bellied high school dropouts can't read minds. Hopefully they'll straighten up by tomorrow and start believing this .
Wait - does that mean that the ex-Marines who ditched the Corps without learning a single marketable skill and are currently "working" for the TSA *can* read minds?
The story of the massive failure and embarrassment of the SPOTnick program will continue to drip drip drip, with official report release late in the week. National Review:IG Report: TSA Still Doesn’t Know if Behavioral Screening Works USA Today:Auditor: TSA can't justify costs of screening behavior NYT:Report Says T.S.A. Screening Is Not Objective
Well, Bennie Thompson's amendment to de-fund SPOT didn't pass to make it into the final DHS Appropriations Bill sent to the Senate. Mostly GOP opposed. But not too late to demand some accountability for FY2014. With such clearcut rebuke of the "program"'s efficacy, SPOT's defenders should be put on trial for their deliberate waste-- BDOs as the gold-plated (non-functioning) toilet-seats of the already-reviled TSA.
