Most Canadian news outlets are missing the point, lets hope they understand more of the impending problem when the "deal" is announced this week (I bet it is all smoke and mirrors to conceal the real agenda)

The US government wants to know your comings and goings into the US. With facial recognition software it wants to know your movements within the US as well. This is proof beyond words about the threat to citizens posed by their own government. They have no right to these kinds of data and they are prohibited from obtaining it.

The Canadians are making a deal with the devil.

It is a deal that is not open or transparent, how can that be sensible?

On a separate subject Holy Sh!t - Americans appear to have lost the plot...
more than seven days food in the house, can mean you could be considered a potential terrorist

This can be a reason for unlimited detention!!!
Did you guys throw away the constitution?

I just saw this about the National Defense Authorization Act. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6ThanSzG_w

Please tell me this is not real?

both and yet, neither. Mainly the shadow group who put Obama in power and continues to pull the strings. I've long since concluded he has neither the intelligence nor the ambition to be pushing this police state all by himself. He's just a front man. And if you've ever heard Napolitano speak, you know she's not directing things. Lights are on but nobody home; dumber than a red brick.

It's not a cabal. It's the entire zeitgeist of the country. It doesn't matter who's in the White House. Or Congress. Not if they're from either of the two major parties. It doesn't matter. With few exceptions, Congress is craven. Look what just happened with the NDAA. These cretins voted for it. Overwhelmingly. It's unbelievable, except that it's too believable. Even I, pessimist to the core, said they wouldn't pass it. Boy, was I wrong.

They have renewed the Patriot Act every single time, with further restrictions on us, and now they've passed this hideous, obviously-fascist-no-one-can-pretend-that-isn't new piece of legislation. While most people around the country, including the so-called educated classes, don't give a damn. Ho-hum, whatever. Who's made the latest gaffe in the debates? Who's last on the island on Survivor? What's Kim Kardashian doing?

There should be people in the streets. Oh, that's right, there are. The Occupy movement. That's it. But they're getting crushed by the cops left and right.

And corporations, now and dear-god-I-hope-not-forever, are in cahoots, no matter whether a Democrat or Republican is in power. They're all wallowing in the same trough. They feed each other and eat each other's sh*t. There is nothing they understand but more. That's the overriding word in their vocabulary, in their entire world view.

And yes, Napolitano is embarrassingly dumb.

Yes, the spirit of the times is definitely in support of these things; propaganda, fear, self-interest, and above all laziness and ignorance on the part of the people all contribute. I'm not suggesting a single-minded group intending to seize power, but a convergence of interests who want to use the federal levers for various purposes, financial, social, power, you name it. Control. Power and wealth are consolidating at higher levels and vanishing from main street.

    Shakes head.

These people have lost their brains. They see terrorists where there aren't any.

For those of us who live in earthquake prone places, we're always told to have at least that much food and water in the house - just in case. We also keep spare batteries, a radio, extra clothes, etc., in our 'kit'. When we had phone books, this information was printed on the first few pages of the book. So maybe the phone companies can be held as accessories to terrorism since they're inciting us to stockpile these goods.

And lets not forget the Burners. Depending on the month, these people have at least 10 days worth of food and all manner of incendiary devices.

Mormons are supposed to have a year's supply of food on hand, so this gives them a running start with 6.3M potential terrorists in the U.S.

Unless, that is, you're supposed to count each terrorist for each week of food, in which case we have have 328M terrorists headquartered out of Salt Lake City.

You just added an interesting item to my brain cells.
Can I ask why, they are meant to have this supply of food?

Self-sufficiency. They are very well organized to take care of themselves and one another. You have to know them to appreciate it. For example, if a family falls on hard times (e.g. too ill/poor to feed themselves), the congregation might set up a rotation to deliver dinner every evening. When natural disasters strike, they are often able to decline government aide or least lessen their dependence on it.

Mormons were repeatedly shunned & forced to move by their non-Mormon neighbors, first from New York, later from Illinois, resulting in a 20+ year migration to Utah by wagon until the railroad was finished. I suspect their penchant for self-sufficiency goes back to those roots.
