Oh, also, "Discrete recording devices" should read "Discreet recording devices." Technically they are discrete from one another, but given the tone of the forum and the fact that photography/videography is coming under fire more and more lately, I think the intended meaning was probably "discreet" in that they're disguised and intentionally easy to overlook.
You are correct. As a software engineer focusing on fieldbus applications (discrete vs. analog data), I all but forgot that there was any other way to spell discrete.
I do the same thing a lot of the time - discrete vs. integrated devices (graphics, NIC, audio, etc.) when building systems. My interest in linguistics is the only thing that saves me from getting even more confused looks than I already get.
