It's all part of the TSA's propaganda machine. In which the media is an eager cog.

Well! *sniff & pulls up pants *
The empty shells COULD be used to pour and mold bullets with liquids from the beverage cart, in just the right combination.
Then the jellied bullet COULD be fired via a rubber band or more like, a hair band or scrunchie.
Thus the potential dangerous weapon was duly taken away with much gusto and ado.
THAT is proper procedure that save countless lives.
    *sniff, wipes nose*

A scrunchie -- I love it! Next thing you know they'll be confiscating those!

Isn't this the same airport that put many fliers at risk by allowing not one, but two cupcakes on board?

So now those wayward screeners will redeem themselves by really nailing the pax (after being re-trained on the tricky art of cupcake handling).
