The new software does nothing, absolutely nothing, to solve most of the issues with these machines. The lone plus is that some perv in a box doesn't get to look at you naked. All of the other issues remain. I'd say you are being overly polite as to what Pistole should get.

PS - I'll add that I really don't appreciate comparing innocent citizens with TSA employees, per your chosen title for the thread. :D

Ha, ha, good one! (Actually, I was trying to be the wee littlest bit poetic -- remember after 9/11 when Le Monde's headline read, "We Are All Americans Now"?)

    Ah, yes, I had forgotten.

Actually, I think a good portion of the TSA workforce reminds me of these.

Maybe their union can grieve taking away their peep-show benefits.

As for "improving the passenger experience at the checkpoint", Mr. Pistole, I'll start with my right to pass without delay or hindrance and my rights as an American citizen, which I have ceded to NO ONE.

I'm willing to bet that somewhere, somehow, the actual images are being stored somewhere, no matter what software shows a blob, or how much the TSA says they don't.

BB?! What a waste of government money that dolt is.

I've just emailed my reps regarding the ORD woman. I'm going to print out the doc, then fax and mail copies to them as well.

I just imagine the day when Pistole dictates opting out is no longer an option since these machines are safe and images obscure. I predict that day is right around the corner...:td:

FetePerfection, oh definitely. I've been saying that since January 2010. But of course, the security cheerleaders don't care. The mandatory screenings won't, of course, obviate the gropes, but they don't care about that either.

That will be the day that I assume my own pose in the Nude-O-Scope: With my right arm across my breasts, holding on to the left shoulder, and my left arm extended down and around my crotch!!!! Ha Ha...my medical condition only alows me to pose this way, you blue-shirted (BS) morons!!! ;)

I will, but I am going to do that in another letter tomorrow. That gives me another reason to write them again. I'll keep it to 1 or 2 new examples for each letter, probably every or every other day, as quickly as the TSA can provide more examples, which is a pretty good pace.

Lisa, so how do you think the general public is going to react to this? My thinking is that too many who have avoided flying because they didn't want to be seen naked but were not terribly concerned with radiation exposure will now think everything is hunky dory and go back to flying. With some people it was a privacy issue and I'm wondering if that will change with the "blog scanners". For me it doesn't change things at all but wondering if it will for some.

How much you want to bet that the "blob" is just an overlay. How much you want to bet that the operator can toggle teh blob with the nudie picture? 100% that's what's going on. This is a FALSE sense of security and more lies by the TSA. This technology has existed for a long time. But it's stupid, as all things TSA are.

Just a ruse in response to the court's order last week that they get public comment on the scanners. EPIC forced them to speed up the time table. Of course, like the trusted traveler program, the child pat down procedures and the privacy software, we've being hearing this for years so I wouldn't hold my breath.

My sister in law whose boyfriend Erwin is in the travel industry wrote today: Erwin told me that many of his tourists, all which are from Germany and mostly central Europe, think that the American's are stupid for being so overly protective, that they are taking away from the quality of life we have left. We are kind of the laughing stock of the travel industry in other countries.
