EPIC reports that the White House suddenly cut off the time period allotted for signatures to an anti-TSA petition that has been gaining steam and pulled the petition off its website.
About 22,500 of the 25,000 signatures necessary for a response from the Administration were obtained when the White House unexpectedly cut short the time period for the petition. The site also went down for “maintenance” following an article in Wired that sought support for the campaign.
How’s that hope and change working out for you?
And please don’t turn this into a left/right slugfest. I voted for Obama. I was still stuck in the false dichotomy of what passes for politics in this country. Obama has turned out to be just as much of a disaster as Bush was, as McCain would’ve been, and as anyone else from either of the two major parties will be. Neither the Democratic Party nor the Republican Party, with rare exceptions, gives a toss about civil liberties. They care only about staying in power. The sooner people realize this, the sooner we can start to change things in this country, including the abuses of the TSA.

I wouldn't doubt it. The a$$holes running this country don't give a damn about this country, the rule of law, basic rights or the Constitution, they only care about power and money. I signed the petition, but I was under no impression that they would answer it properly, or even at all.

Convenient that this happens around the same time as that TSA-shilling poll comes out saying everyone loves the Terrorists Searching Americans.

They're getting desperate. They know the heat is on and they think smoke and mirrors will work again.

You know what? Romney is going to be just as bad on this issue. Some of the names in DHS/TSA will change, but he won't get rid of it.

It's up to us to use all the legal means we have -- lawsuits, education, activism, etc., to get rid of this blight.

I agree. Romney's sidekick has been raking in the $ from the backscatter industry.

I'm doing my part by providing this site :) & my wife & I are both helping out by not flying. :D

This will be the 11th presidential election I've voted in, and the only one where I have the foggiest idea which Tweedle Dee I'm voting for months ahead of the election. I really wish we had viable 3rd party candidates and a workable multi-party system.

I'm still hoping for a miracle in Tampa, where Magic Underwear Boy and the Wannabe get sent to the showers.
