The Tennessean: Police charge mother in Nashville airport altercation

^ People are finally starting to seriously push back.

I hope this woman has a good attorney & doesn't just cop a plea. What is often charged as disorderly conduct is protected speech when it is directed at government employees.

As usual, the TSA came up with its own bit of stupidity:

Radio waves = sound waves? I don't think so.

And it appears that perhaps they illegally blocked her attempt to record the situation:

Yep, you rather took the wind out of my sails. I was feeling pretty smug for catching that one. It was well buried. Good job.

PS: @ 0831 EST I checked Drudge - the link was up and running. When I viewed the article the remarks had soared from 10 to 21.

This stuff is going to bury the TSA eventually.

I'd be willing to contribute to her upcoming legal expenses.

Congrats on post #3000 & thanks for participating! :)

The article included an email address for the reporter; she might be able/willing to help you get in touch to make the contribution.

Will comment on article & plug TUG when I get to work.

TenFourFox doesn't seem to want to play nice with the site for whatever reason.

Ooh! A milestone post! I'd like to thank the academy........

I'll look into that e-mail. Travesties like this need to be defended.

I was so glad when I saw this story this morning. I sent it to my entire mailing list (most of whom are asleep on this issue, even today). I will definitely contribute to this woman's legal defense fund. I left several comments at the Tennessean and urge everyone to do likewise, there and at however many newspapers/sites you can find. We have to show support for this woman, especially against all the cowards and sheeple out there.

Don't forget that Rosa Parks wasn't the first person to refuse to move to the back of the bus. Many others had done it before her. She was the tipping point. Change doesn't happen overnight, and it doesn't happen with just one action (as in the case of the poor young man in Tunisia who set himself on fire -- there were hundreds, thousands of less severe acts of resistance before him -- he was the tipping point that woke people up).

I do believe this is the tipping point.

I started a Facebook group in support of Mrs. Abbott:

The goal is to show support and, if she ends up with legal fees (which she may not since attorneys will probably salivate over the false arrest suit) to create a defense fund.

What liability does TSA have when its employees state things about the WBIers that is not true as this A.S.S. did claiming it is 10,000 times safer than a cell phone? TSA should not get a pass on this kind of BS.

Jon, I remember your lawsuit -- I publicized it as much as possible in various postings all over the blogosphere. I'm not on Facebook (I spend enough time on the computer as it is!), but I will contribute to her defense fund if she needs it. I'm not just blowing smoke. I'm sure many other Americans will do likewise. You make a good point about her perhaps not needing it, but ya never know. In any case, please add my name to the list on your FB page -- Lisa Simeone, Baltimore, MD.

    Two more stories:

And another guy who stood up to the TSA, albeit in a novel way:
Man Takes Viagra, Wears Sweatpants for TSA Pat Down

Sorry, I can't get the HTML formatting to work.

Oh holy cow that's hilarious! Unfortunately, that could prompt the gestapo at the TSA to ban leaving and re-entry. Which would tick me off being someone who does need to go in and out to satisfy a really nasty tabacco habit.

Another guy did something similar a few years ago -- I have it in my files somewhere -- he took a couple of Viagra before getting on a plane, and shot video of his screening. He wasn't standing at full attention, though, like this guy apparently was (even if it is a spoof!).

Lisa, thanks much for your support!

I've posted a list of the e-mail addresses of all Nashville elected officials, as well as all TN state legislators + the governor, on my blog (below). I urge you to let these people know what you think, and urge them to put forth and pass legislation prohibiting this conduct!

Quite possible -- this has really exploded on the internet: 522 hits on her her name in Google News, > 1K hits in Google Search. Foreign papers are picking it up, too.

Awsome Jon! I've been following your blog for months! It's fascinating to watch the process you're going through! And you have my full support as well.
