Not always. Despite it being part of MPOETC training for at least two years, which all police officers in PA are required to take, and an official directive of the Philadelphia Police Department, there exist numerous officers in Philadelphia (and other parts of PA) who still wrongly believe that holstered open-carry of a firearm is illegal.

There are thousands of police officers all over this country who wrongly believe it is illegal to photograph bridges, trains, airplanes, cars, buses and buildings from public land, and have falsely arrested people for doing so.

Some police officers know some of the law, but I wouldn't assume that someone knows "the law" just because they're a cop.

But isn't that a little like appealing to a rabid wolverine's 'good nature'?
